Stop facebook emails - How to Stop Facebook Reminders to Friends

I have to admit that i did a stupid thing:
A few months ago i joined facebook; it has a function "search friends". It asks your email account and password, so that it connects with my gmail address book, and find all my friends on facebook.
I thought facebook is a reliable company, so i did it. That's where this story begains.
What facebook did is that they sent all the people who is on my Gmail contact list a "Friend Request" email.
It does not stop there, facebook sents this email to my email contacts EVERY month!
Reminder: (my name) invited you to join Facebook...
This is suppose to be in the inbox of my contacts, because some contacts are myself (i own a few email accounts for work and life), so i know what my other contacts are saying
I guess some of them must be guessing, "ohha, this guy must be so desperate to ask me to accept him as a friend...otherwise why send me friend request every month?"
I just hate to see this going on and on. So i spent the last two hours finding a solution.
What you do is to click on Friends, then Invite Friends, then View All Friends Invites, there you delete all contacts!
I hope this helps! Below is a video i created to show you how to do it, if i am not making myself understood.
BTW, i hate facebook on this part because the only reason facebook are sending these emails endlessly is that they want more users, and i am a victim of their busiessn adventure.

Thankyou for posting this! I did the same thing ages ago and it kept sending friend requests to work contacts and other people who did not want to be 'friends' with. Now its all sorted :)
Thank you so much!!!! I did the same thing over Christmas to a bunch of people in my contact list that included business contacts from ages ago... How stupid and embarassing... Then this month I started getting emails again saying, 'thanks but I don't FB'. So glad I could stop the resends now!!! What I really need is a 'duh' key that sends out an apology for spamming everyone!

i was so embarrassed when my boss received the facebook invitation. he is that kind of busy boss that thinks all his staff are serious and don’t have time to waste , not to mention join facebook.

Thank you so much for telling me how to STOP Facebook from sending reminders to my BOSS that I was inviting him to join Facebook. How embarrassing. They should be stopped from doing this. Of course, there is no way to contact anyone at Facebook to complain about it either! Thanks again.
WOW! Why didn't I do this a LONG time ago? I accidentally clicked the box a year ago and even my own e-mail sends me reminders. The new Facebook pages have it a bit differently to get to, but I found it within a few minutes. THANK YOU!!!

In the left column click on Friends. Under "Find People You Email" there is a sentence "Facebook will not store your password. Learn More." Click on "Learn More." A pop up box loads with a paragraph ending in "If you don't want us to store this information, visit this page." Click on "this page." Click "remove".

I admire those of you trying to keep your contacts from receiving Facebook invites, but why are you even allowing Facebook (or any site at all) to have access to your email address book? Even though I have never been a member of Facebook, I have become part of its "social graph" because many of my friends uploaded their address books. They prevented FB from sending invites to me. But then, one friend did allow an invite to come to me, and that invite included 'friend suggestions' for me -- nine people I know but who are unknown to the sender. It took me a while to figure out how FB knew who so many of my friends are, but I finally figured that it is because those people had uploaded their address books.
Again -- WHY IN THE WORLD would you give ANYONE access to your email address book. You cannot know what FB will do with that data, how long they will store it, and who else will have access to that data. Be kind to your friends, and don't upload! Thanks.

But how do you do this on the new facebook? I can't find it on the new facebook layout.

Thanks for posting this! Those bastards make it extra hard to remove your contacts, it took me 1 hour to remove everyone! Every time facebook only deleted 5 contacts or less every time I selected all contacts...

I am still trying to rid myself of Facebook emails. Everyone says "first log in to your account.." but I dont HAVE an account, I cancelled it 9 months ago. I thought I would contact them and .. ah .. American corporation :0.
People were responding to friends requests i didnt send out and in the end i found this link to remove the contacts file it had used to do that http://www.facebook.com/contact_importer/remove_up
Facebook has done the same thing to my only I DIDN'T GIVE THEM MY EMAIL PASSWORD SO HOW DID THEY GET IT!
how hell do i stop facebook send ever bloody thing to yahoo e-mail account...i dont need be noticfaction twice i can see it on facebook i make a coment or likesomething it goes staright to me yahoo account there any way of stop this cos it annoying have delted all these pointless e-mails

Good post. But the point is this. As you say in the video, this is SPAM. Sent by Facebook. I'm surprised you didn't write that in your post. Legal issues I guess.
Well. I'm tired. And I decided to send to the Facebook team, the executives, a nice letter. So far no response.
If I don't have a Facebook account, the nice procedure that you explained doesn't apply. And I don't think I have to tell my friends that.
Even worse. The reminder comes from a Facebook email acoount. A bogus one. So, if that comes from my friend, where is his/her email address?
This is SPAM.
And I'm shocked seeing in your video that without your knowledge, Facebook had scheduled 1252 invitations!!

Now facebook put an error notice on the process you document in that video!
"Something went wrong. We're working on getting it fixed as soon as we can."
I cannot delete those email address.
What should I do?
Not only does facebook send bogus reminders from your contact list, which I didn't give them, they send reminders to anyone your have tried to friend. The reminders look like they came from you. They also poke your friends on your behalf. Actually, you cannot poke someone who is not your friend. This is not only spam, it is fraudulent.

Thank you so much!!! And thanks to all the people that updated the URLs! I started a page for my company and invited the entire corporation to "like" the corporate page--only to discover fb invited the entire company to be friend with me! This has been a real nightmare. Thank you again!!!

Thank you so much!!!! You have no idea how much I needed this tip!! I set up Facebook for my boss to promote his side line business, imported all his contacts thinking i was doing the right thing and everyone of his thousands of contacts kept getting reminders to join facebook! I thought I was searching his address book for people already on their, but seems not.
I think it's very devious of FB to be doing this and then hiding so well a way to get rid of them... I mean for christs sake Zuckerberg... do you not have enough money now!!!
Thank you thank you thank you. FB raided my gmail account, imported my contacts (without my knowledge) and sent out friend requests (without my knowledge). I was desperate to find a way to delete all the imported contacts and stop the friend requests. I actually had to delete all my contacts from my gmail account to keep it from happening again too.
i got about 30 emails from FB in 1 month, thanks to this i dont have to put up with FB spamming me i told my friends to stop clicking the import friends button and this info
